Halfway through 2026 and Ruan's ventures with Spark Developments Motorsport Team have resulted in podiums each time out and a gravel cup championship lead in the Mini Rally Challenge see Race Reports & onboard videos). Ruan has also moved up through the placings in his C2 in Scottish Tarmac Championship events with Stark Motorsport.
Ruan had the honour of being nominated a 2025 Motorsport UK Academy Young Driver of the Year Finalist.
With the Enhanced DiSE course at Motorsport UK Academy now ended, Ruan has built on knowledge and skills from the Loughborough classroom and will continue to keep up training with the iZone Driver Performance at Silverstone, and mixed rally time with instructing at Everyman Racing.
Emerging from junior rally competition racing, Ruan's potential is to reach the top. He is always pushing himself to improve and learn as he builds on his times with the Motorsport UK Academy programme designed to support talented drivers.

Motorsport UK announced in September 2023 that Ruan had been selected to join 17 other young drivers from a range of racing series for the Motorsport UK Academy sporting excellence course 2023/24. The Enhanced DiSE course is delivered in collaboration with Loughborough College.
Beginning in 2022, Ruan raced two seasons in the Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge with navigator and mentor Ian McRae, and assisted by Marc McCubbin and the AM Motorsport Services team (Instagram). All made possible by the fantastic team at Junior Rally Scotland, whose training includes driving skills and car control, rallycraft, fitness and nutrition, communication and interviews, car mechanics and the psychology of rallying.
